Week 27

10:40 AM

This week flew by in a haze of jet lag, work catch-up, and trying to get all the laundry done without falling asleep standing up. There wasn't a terribly specific high or a low point, just a lot of hoping Daniel wouldn't mind if I went to bed before 8 pm. I don't think the time change helped my exhaustion, either. Complete darkness at 6 pm has always thrown me off and makes me feel like I've accomplished absolutely nothing for the day. Throw in the rest of it, and I'm a slug. A large, round slug.

The one change happening this week as I enter the third trimester is my belly. It has definitely become large and round and I'm honestly a little obsessed with it. I'm carrying lower than I expected to and hoping that doesn't lead to more back pain. I can't keep my hands off it, though, and I stare at it constantly when I get out of the shower. The linea negra (dark line down the middle of my belly) is becoming slightly more noticeable, no stretch marks in sight still, and my belly button isn't quite an outtie yet, but we're getting close. I've definitely turned a corner into fascinated with my changing body instead of sad. We have an ultrasound scheduled for Saturday and I cannot wait to see how much she has changed since my last ultrasound more than a month ago. With my size change, she surely has to be packing on the pounds in there.

How far along? 27 weeks
Maternity clothes? For sure!
Stretch Marks? No
Sleep? I'm trying to figure out how much is jet lag and how much is just normal pregnant lady tired.
Best moment(s) this week: A little casual dinner celebration with Daniel at Orsay to celebrate our second wedding anniversary and a MUCH needed girls' night out on Thursday, where three of my best friends finally got to feel her kick!
Miss Anything? Being able to roll over easily in bed. I wake up with one side of my body completely numb a few times a night and I feel like an elephant seal trying to find a comfy position. I'm currently at four pillows in bed. Let's see if I end up using any more.
Movement: All the time! Baby girl is rocking and rolling more often than not these days. She quiets down when Daniel talks to her in my belly or if I start walking around.
Food Cravings: REALLY horrible US food. I missed my french fries, sugary cereal, and fountain cokes in Europe (yes, I know these things exist in Europe. But all the food was included on the cruise and it was really lovely, healthy, and delicious.... but I still just wanted rice krispies)
Anything making you queasy or sick: Just the usual. Meat is iffy.
Gender: I don't want to say I'm excited about cute dresses, but I totally am.
Labor Signs: Nope
Pregnancy Symptoms: HEARTBURN. Oh, the dreaded heartburn. All the time. Along with being front-heavy, some pelvic bone pain, and rib tenderness from her new favorite kicking spot. I've also gained 15 lbs so far.
Belly Button in or out? It still counts as "in"... but, we're getting close to flat.
Rings on or off? Depends on the day and the weather.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Probably moody, even though I don't want to admit it. I'm so exhausted and hungry all the time!
Looking forward to: Thanksgiving! Has there ever been a more perfect pregnant lady holiday? You'll be able to find me grazing on carbs and desserts in the corner all day on Thursday.
