Twelve Months
7:37 AMOh, my little love. How are you already a year old? It feels both like I only just met you and that I've known your face my whole life. You are absolutely moving from baby to toddler, as you rarely let us hold you to fall asleep, want to move independently, and want to feed yourself. Your opinions are expressed loud and clear and you are so curious about the world around you. I didn't know I could be so exhausted and so in love before you arrived. Your dad and I love you so much!
Likes:
-Saying "bye bye!" and waving-food, food, food, food
-playing peekaboo with daddy's hat
-Max the Sloth Unicorn toy from Harrison
-Cruising on furniture, moving independently
Dislikes:
-Diaper changes, outfit changes, getting into the car seat. Anything in which she has to be restrained.
-Not being allowed to eat food off our plates
-Dirty diapers at night
-Wearing socks or shoes
Schedule: So much is changing in such a short amount of time. At school, they are knocking her down to one nap a day, but she still occasionally naps twice on the weekends. We're finishing off the last of her formula at home and we've started giving her milk and water in sippy cups. Instead of bottles at school, she now gets breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. She's starting to sleep through the night again (thank GOODNESS), going to bed around 7:30 or 8 and awake again at 7-ish.
Features: With the addition of more solid food, I feel like she is getting chunkier. Which is the opposite of what I thought would happen was she became more mobile! But this girl can put food AWAY so I'm not too shocked. Her light brown hair is lengthening into a mullet and she's got some wonderful little curls happening. She has six teeth, two on top and four on the bottom, and I wouldn't be surprised if a few new ones don't pop up soon.
Milestones: Learning to hug, the end of bottles and formula, standing without holding on to anything, new words ("whoa!" is a favorite)
Firsts:
-Pink eye (yay)
-Day in the one year old room at school
-Sippy cups with straws
Challenges: Mostly, just living life with a crazy active kiddo. We were all sick at one point or another this month, we had a baby shower to throw, we had some really sad family losses, we had a jam packed month. There's no slowing down with Frankie, though. I'm learning the balance and starting to embrace it. I miss the days where I could plop her on her playmat and she'd be content, but I wouldn't trade her goofy conversations and dancing and hugs for absolutely anything. Thankful for all the extra hands that helped us this month!

Thoughts: I am so emotional writing this blog. Two years ago, I was in the middle of fertility treatment... hormone after hormone injection... failed treatment after failed treatment. I didn't know what was in the cards for us. Just last year, I woke up for work not feeling so hot. I had no idea I'd be going to the hospital that day and leaving with my whole heart in my arms a few days later. Being your parent has been the most incredible, difficult, rewarding, and wonderful thing. I cannot express how much I love you and how thankful I am for you, Frances Grace. Happy Birthday!
