The Shrinking Bladder

  • There is not a better feeling on the planet than walking into the house after a long day, seeing her, and watching her light up when she recognizes me. I have never had so much fun in my life! I knew having kids would be challenging and rewarding, but I think I've laughed more in the last three weeks than I have in the longest time. She's so mobile now and her personality is so strong. Every day it feels like shes learning a new skill and becoming more independent. I love watching her interact with friends and smile at strangers. I love how much she loves food. We're SO close to crawling, but the army crawl/rolling gets her anywhere she wants to go right now. Time to baby-proof the house, finally!

    Likes:
-Jumping! Bouncers, on people, anywhere. Just gotta jump!
-Solid foods. We're up to three meals a day, eating teething wafers, and trying to steal everyone else's food.
-Dogs. Any and all puppies. Especially when Tater comes over to give her little kisses.
    -Other kiddos.
    -Pulling hair of any kind.
-Pretty much everything. She's so stoked on life right now!

    Dislikes:
-We've had to change her jammies and diaper in the middle of the night a few times, thanks to pee overload. That is not her favorite thing.
    -Being hungry.
-Being put down for a nap when she's not ready.
-Losing her paci in the middle of the night.

Schedule: Things are getting better with the introduction of much more solids! We've had several more nights where she's slept from 7 pm until about 5 or 6 am and I'm so proud! I'm still going in to put her paci back in a few times a night, but those nights she stays asleep are glorious. We have one morning nap and one afternoon nap anywhere from 45 mins to two hours long. We eat 6 oz bottles all day and solids with a sippy cup of water 3 times a day. Bed time is at 7 pm sharp (or else!).

Features: All her 3-6 month clothing is packed away and she's solidly in 6 month clothing now. We're trying hard to use the last of the size 2 diapers, even though she should probably be in 3s. I've never loved a smile as much as I adore hers. She is just so happy and warm- she feels like sunshine, just like her daddy does. Her hair is really coming back in now, which is dark brown and straight so far. She loves to smile and laugh and she looks just like daddy when she does. When she's got a furrowed brow, she looks just like me. She's still long and lean, with the occasional roll on her thighs and chin.

Milestones: Army Crawling! She can get up on all fours and rock back and forth and scoot all over. Crawling isn't far off. She's a strong sitter and can stay seated for a long while. When she lays down now, it is mostly by choice. She can put her own paci in (although backwards sometimes) and can hold her own bottle solidly.

    Firsts:
    - Jogs with mom and dad
    - Going to work with dad
    - Teething wafers
    - Meat (in a puree)
    - Babysitting by a stranger (at YMCA kid care)

Challenges: She is perfection. I wish she'd sleep more, but that's pretty much all. Everything else is a joy and I am loving every moment I get to spend with her. I did, however, have some personal postpartum challenges this month. I sought therapy and medication and things are so much better now. One night out a week without the baby, doctor's orders. And that little break each week means my time with her is so much richer. We've planned a baby free vacation for Daniel and I in December and I've planned a girls trip with my best friends in March. I'm taking strides to manage my work stress more. I'm working to be a more well-adjusted mama for this little monster!

Thoughts: We're closer to her first birthday than we are to her birth and I'm in shock. This little happy, easygoing human that has made my whole world complete- I just can't imagine life without her. Every age is easier. Every phase more fun. I look forward to my weekends and moments with her. I look forward to watching my husband play with her. This is the best life I could imagine.
